We have redefined tactical training. Learn from professional instructors in a safe and dynamic environment. These aren't your typical gun classes.
Our NRA and TACTICAL DEFENSE courses will familiarize you with the correct operation and maintenance of semi-automatic pistols, revolvers, rifles & shotguns along with teaching you how to handle and shoot them safely. They are perfect for the new firearm owner needing to develop their skills and for other more advanced firearm enthusiasts interested in defensive or competitive firearm courses.
The core basics of firearm marksmanship are the lifelong building blocks for many other activities including hunting or pistol shooting sports. Our course prices include all learning materials, including books, targets, range time and are taught by experienced NRA Certified Instructors in a very relaxed environment setting.
Black Eagle Firearms instructors believe in a real life approach to training. It is not enough to learn how to shoot holes in paper. We believe that “perfect” practice makes perfect. So, we must train for real life. We are dedicated to providing a quality, safe, and professional training environment to every student. We can help any level of shooter from beginner to experienced. We offer training to civilians, private security, police, and many government agencies.
Our instructor staff is composed of individuals with the highest levels of training and operational experience in both military and law enforcement. We are not only trained in our methods and tactics, but in the teaching and presentation of those as well. Our staff training never ends and we regularly seek out continued training from firearms academies around the country. We have been privileged to learn from some of the world's best firearms tactics instructors. We strongly believe in the evolution of training. If the tactics do not work, find a better way; if there is a better way, learn it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Indiana has relatively relaxed gun laws, especially concerning carrying firearms. In 2022, the state enacted constitutional carry, allowing both open and concealed carry without a permit for individuals 18 and older who are not prohibited from owning a firearm. There is no state-mandated background check for private firearm sales.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown:Permitless Carry:
-
- Indiana is a constitutional carry state, meaning residents and non-residents 18+ can carry handguns openly or concealed without a permit, provided they are not prohibited from owning a firearm.
- While permits are not required for carrying, they may still be beneficial for reciprocity purposes with other states.
- Indiana is a constitutional carry state, meaning residents and non-residents 18+ can carry handguns openly or concealed without a permit, provided they are not prohibited from owning a firearm.
- Indiana offers concealed carry permits to residents and some non-residents for reciprocity, according to Vedder Holsters.
Restrictions on Carrying:
- Certain locations restrict firearm carry, including schools, secure airport areas, and casinos.
- It’s illegal to carry a firearm on school property, or within 500 feet of a school.
- Possession of a machine gun is generally prohibited.
Purchase and Possession:
- No permit is needed to purchase a firearm in Indiana, and firearms do not need to be registered.
- There’s no state-mandated waiting period for firearm purchases.
- Federal law requires a background check for purchases from licensed dealers.
- Indiana law prohibits the sale of firearms to individuals under 18, with some exceptions for certain military personnel.
- There are restrictions on firearm ownership for those with certain criminal convictions, mental health issues, or those under court order prohibiting firearm possession.
Other Notable Points:
- Indiana does not regulate “assault weapons” or magazine capacity.
- There are no state-mandated safe storage requirements for firearms.
- Local governments in Indiana cannot independently regulate firearms within their jurisdictions.
- Indiana has a red flag law allowing courts to temporarily suspend firearm access for individuals deemed a significant risk to themselves or others.
Indiana has permitless carry (also known as constitutional carry) for handguns, meaning a license isn’t required to carry a handgun for those legally allowed to possess one. However, Indiana does recognize concealed carry permits from other states, and also issues non-resident permits to those with a regular place of business or employment in Indiana.
Indiana’s Approach to Concealed Carry Reciprocity:
- Honors other states’ permits:
Indiana recognizes valid concealed carry permits from all other U.S. states, meaning anyone with a permit from another state can carry a handgun in Indiana, provided they are legally eligible to possess one.
- Non-resident permits:
Indiana will issue a 4-year personal-protection firearm license to non-residents who have a regular place of business or employment in the state, according to the U.S. Concealed Carry Association.
- Constitutional Carry:
Indiana allows anyone 18 or older who can legally possess a handgun to carry it openly or concealed without a permit, provided they meet the state’s legal requirements.
What this means for travelers:
- Indiana residents traveling to other states:
Indiana residents can carry their handguns in states that honor Indiana’s licenses or have permitless carry laws.
- Non-residents traveling to Indiana:
Non-residents can carry their handguns in Indiana if they have a valid permit from their home state or if they meet the state’s requirements for permitless carry.
Important considerations:
- State-specific laws:
It’s crucial to be aware of the specific gun laws of any state you plan to visit, as reciprocity agreements and regulations can vary.
- Local laws and restrictions:
Even within Indiana, certain locations may have restrictions on where firearms can be carried, such as schools or government buildings.
- Consult official sources:When in doubt, always check with the relevant law enforcement agency in the state you are traveling to for the most up-to-date information.
Indiana is generally considered a gun-friendly state. In 2022, Indiana enacted “constitutional carry,” which means that individuals who are legally allowed to possess a firearm can carry it, concealed or openly, without needing a permit. This eliminates the requirement for a handgun license for those meeting the age and other legal criteria.
